Camper Health & Safety

The health and well-being of every camper is our highest priority.

Required Health Forms

All campers must submit:

  • Health History Form
  • Licensed Medical Personnel Recommendation Form

Medical Care at Camp

Camp Manitowa maintains an on-site healthcare team available throughout the summer.

Our health staff can provide routine care for:

  • Minor illnesses
  • Headaches
  • Stomachaches
  • Scrapes and cuts
  • General health concerns

If advanced medical care is needed, campers may be transported to local healthcare facilities.

Medications

All medications must:

  • Be provided in original containers
  • Include clear dosage instructions
  • Be turned in upon arrival

Certain emergency medications, such as inhalers and EpiPens, may remain with campers or counselors when appropriate.

Camp Manitowa is conveniently located near several healthcare providers should additional medical care ever be needed.

  • Franklin Hospital (Benton, IL) — ~10 minutes
  • SSM Health Express Clinic (Mount Vernon, IL) — ~20 minutes
  • SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital (Mount Vernon, IL) — ~20 minutes

Our Health Center staff works closely with families and healthcare providers when medical concerns arise, and parents or guardians will be contacted regarding any significant illness, injury, or treatment needs during their camper's stay.

Insurance Information

Camp health services are included in tuition. Any outside medical visits, prescriptions, urgent care visits, or hospital services will be billed through the family's insurance provider.
